How capably is your team actuallyusing AI?

Most AI rollouts measure adoption: seat counts, login frequency, prompts per week. That tells you nothing about whether the work got better. AI IQ measures capability. Six dimensions that separate a smart common-sense answer from a repeatable AI workflow, and every person mapped to the exact training that closes their specific gaps.

The six dimensions

Capability is more than prompting

Strong AI users share a recognisable pattern across six reinforcing capabilities. Measuring only one of them (usually prompting, which is the most visible) misses why the same prompt works for one person and fails for another.

Literacy

What AI actually is, what it can and can't do, and where it breaks. The mental model underneath every other skill.

Prompting Skill

Structuring requests so AI produces work you can actually use. The difference between a toy and a tool.

Workflow Integration

Habit, not access. Do saved prompts and repeatable patterns live in the rhythm of daily work, or only during demos?

Judgment & Verification

Spotting the hallucination, the reversed-meaning summary, the plausibly-wrong citation, before it leaves your inbox.

Governance Awareness

Knowing what data belongs in which tool, what auditing looks like, and where the contractual lines are.

Collaborative Maturity

How teams share prompts, document wins, catch peers' AI mistakes, and build shared patterns instead of siloed hacks.

How it works

Three steps, no workshop calendar required

  1. 01

Sign up and invite your team

Create your organisation in a minute. We handle team invites and consent in Anonymous Rollup or Named Recommendation mode.

  2. 02

    Each person takes the diagnostic

35 questions, ~20 minutes. Six question types including rich interactions (prompt improvement, error highlighting, branching scenarios) that measure what people actually do, not what they say they do.

  3. 03

    Get pathway reports

Every participant receives a personalised report with a recommended training pathway. Leaders get the organisation-wide rollup and per-team heatmaps.

The five pathways

Every participant gets an exact next step

A single number buries the useful answer. AI IQ maps each participant to one of five pathways based on the shape of their scores, so the recommendation matches the specific capability pattern rather than a generic tier.

Fluency (Basic)

Half-day workshop

Foundational baseline across dimensions.

Practitioner

Full-day workshop

Capable but not yet integrated, or strong with one clear growth edge.

Advanced

2-day cohort + follow-up

Already building. Ready for advanced patterns and shared tooling.

Executive Advisory

1:1 quarterly engagement

Senior-role engagement calibrated to leadership context.

Risk Remediation

2-hour targeted workshop

Actively using AI with low judgment or governance. Fix first, scale second.

Who it's for

Built for teams that want to stop guessing

Team leaders and heads of engineering

You need to know whether the team is actually getting value from the AI tools they already have, and where to invest the next training dollar.

L&D and enablement teams

Stop building one-size-fits-all courses. Map every learner to the curriculum that closes their specific gaps.

Individual professionals

Get an honest read on your own AI fluency, and a pathway to improvement that isn't tied to your employer.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

How long does the diagnostic take?
About 20 minutes. 35 questions, spaced so the early ones build confidence and the middle ones do the real measurement.
Is participation anonymous?
Your choice. Anonymous Rollup Mode aggregates to team and org level without naming individuals. Named Recommendation Mode shares each person's pathway with the participant and their manager.
How is the score calculated?
Six dimensions, each rolled up from 5-6 questions using per-type weights. Behavioural interactions (prompt improvement, error highlighting) carry more weight than self-reported Likert scales. Every score has a confidence band based on how many questions fed it.
Can you re-measure after training?
Yes. The question bank is versioned and rotated so re-takers see fresh items, and the scoring engine is recomputable against prior weights so six-month and twelve-month follow-ups stay comparable.
Who built this?
MaxtDesign AI Studios is the services-sector practice of MaxtDesign. It's focused on helping organisations adopt AI in ways that actually change how work gets done.
